This somewhat circuitous and daunting trek takes you through remote and rugged terrain and the trail includes a crossing of the challenging Larkye-la Pass (5,220m), with glaciers all around, high on the northern flanks of Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m), eighth highest peak in the world. Very near the Nepal-Tibet border, Larkye-la Pass connects the higher reaches of the dramatic Budi Gandaki Valley with the Marshyangdi Gorge. Since it is so close to the international border, this wild and awesome area was restricted until 1992 and even then remains largely untrekked and unexplored. The local culture remains very similar to that of Tibet.
