Travel Advice from Mountain Legend

Your Journey Begins Before You Hit the Trail

Trekking in the Himalayas is not just a physical journey—it’s a cultural and emotional one. At Mountain Legend, we believe that proper preparation ensures a richer, safer, and more rewarding experience. Here’s how to get trail-ready:

1.Pack Smart, Not Heavy

The mountains reward simplicity. Bring layers, not luggage. Focus on essentials that provide warmth and comfort across shifting weather conditions. We’ll send you a detailed packing checklist, and our team is happy to help review your gear before your departure.

2.Train Before You Trek

Start light physical training 4–6 weeks in advance. Build endurance by walking uphill, climbing stairs, or hiking. Strengthening your legs and lungs will help you adapt quickly—and enjoy the trail without strain.

3.Visa Made Simple

Most travelers can get a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport. You’ll need:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months
  • One passport-size photo (or use the airport’s digital kiosk)
  • Visa fees in USD: 15 days – $30, 30 days – $50, 90 days – $125
You can also apply online in advance at:

4.Respect the Altitude

Even when you’re feeling great, altitude can affect anyone. We design all our itineraries with safe acclimatization in mind. But if you feel headaches, nausea, or fatigue, let your guide know immediately. Your safety is our top priority.

5.Insurance is a Must

We strongly advise getting comprehensive travel insurance that includes high-altitude trekking and helicopter evacuation. It’s a small step that can make a life-saving difference in case of emergencies.

6.Walk with Respect

Every village you pass is someone’s home. Learn a few simple Nepali greetings, smile, and be mindful of local customs. The mountains are sacred—and the locals appreciate those who walk with kindness and humility.

7. Disconnect to Reconnect

Wi-Fi and phone signals fade as you head into the wild—but that’s part of the magic. Let go of screens and distractions. Tune into the rhythm of your body, your surroundings, and the community around you. The Himalayas have a way of speaking—if you’re ready to listen.

Still unsure what to pack? Curious about your route or fitness level? Just ask us. At Mountain Legend, we’re more than guides—we’re your partners, your support team, and your friends on the trail.
